A: Applications are accepted in mid-October or early November.
A: Students at Leeds should apply while in England. The Graduate Program Officer will provide you with details and answer any questions you have. You may wish to inquire about the program and discuss it with your adviser prior to your departure.
Q: Can I substitute a course for one that is required?
A: You may be permitted to substitute a course, but you must provide a strong argument showing that your proposed change strengthens your program of courses. All proposed substitutions must be approved by the Graduate Program Officer.
Q: If I fall just under a 3.0 GPA in my third and fourth year, can I still apply?
A: No.
Q: Can I put off taking the graduate courses in one or more of the semesters while in the MAE program?
A: No, at least one graduate course is required in each semester beginning in the Spring of the 4th year. To complete 6 graduate-level courses, you will need to take two graduate courses in some of these semesters.
Q: Why does my undergraduate degree audit not include a course that I have taken for the M.A.E. program?
A: Two of the 400-level courses you take will not show up on your undergraduate degree audit. A final degree audit will therefore have 2 three-credit courses listed as incomplete requirements, but you will have taken these courses. In the computer accounting system, they have been transferred to the M.A.E. degree.
Q: Can I create a special combination of two options?
A: In rare circumstances, this will be permitted. Consult with the graduate program officer.
Q: I want to take an independent study course. Can I?
A: Only in situations where required courses are not available, or not offered, creating a problem for a student in meeting graduation requirements, will independent study credits be permitted. Independent study courses will not be permitted if they result in a student having more than 16 credits at one time why in the MAE program.
Q: Can I elect to leave the program after starting it?
A: Yes, in rare circumstances, however, you should be aware that it is extremely difficult to transfer classes from a graduate level back to an undergraduate level.
Q: Can I change my 30-credit program after beginning the program?
A: Yes, but you must resubmit a new 30-credit program for approval prior to scheduling any courses that are not included in the old plan.
Q: What grades are required in graduate courses?
A: A grade of C or better is required in any course that will count toward a graduate degree. The cumulative GPA of all courses counting toward a graduate degree must be 3.0 or better.
