Professional Organizations & Centers at Penn State

The following organizations are affiliated with Penn State's AE Department:

  1. American Indian Housing Initiative
    This Initiative is a collaborative effort to adapt and deploy sustainable building technologies on American Indian reservations, while also seeking an educational exchange of cultural values and sustainable building technologies through collaborative and interdisciplinary partnerships.
  2. College of Engineering Environmental Institute
    Learn how engineers are becomming invloved with local and global environmental issues.
  3. Computer Integrated Construction (CIC) Research Program
    The vision of the Computer Integrated Construction Research Program is to improve the design and construction process through improvements in the integration of computer applications.
  4. Consortium for the Advancement of Building Sciences (CABS)
    CABS was developed by the Architectural Engineering Department at the Pennsylvania State University, in cooperation with a number of leading firms in the building industry, to support the activities of the department in both the education of future professionals and research to advance the state of the art of building design and construction.
  5. Indoor Environment Center (IEC)
    The Indoor Environment Center (IEC) conducts interdisciplinary research, development, and education in the areas of indoor air quality, aerobiological engineering, illumination and, acoustics within a sustainable design context to support the attainment of indoor environments that are healthier, safer, more comfortable, and energy efficient.
  6. Lean and Green Research Initiative
    The Lean and Green Research Initiative conducts research and education to improve the delivery of high performance buildings through the development of resource efficient (lean) processes that maximize value at minimal delivery cost.
  7. Partnership for Achieving Construction Excellence (PACE)
    PACE is a working partnership between Penn State students, faculty, and building industry practitioners.
  8. Pennsylvania Housing Research Center (PHRC)
    The Pennsylvania Housing Research Center serves the home building industry and the residents of Pennsylvania by improving the quality and affordability of housing.
