The change of location within the Penn State system is called "change of campus." Students who
enter the University in ENGR status at any campus are expected to stay at that location until they are formally
in a major, after their pool semester.

CHANGE TO UNIVERSITY PARK FROM A COMMONWEALTH CAMPUS
For a description of the process of moving to University Park
after receiving conditional admission to a major, go to Change of Location
to University Park. Resources and information for change-of-campus students are also provided on that
page.
Students who are at locations other than University Park and are admitted early into a
major are expected to stay at their campus until they would normally move to University Park, after their
pool semester. However, students who are admitted to Architectural
Engineering (A E) in ENGAE status after the spring semester of their first year must move to University
Park for the fall semester of their second year.
Students heading toward Bioengineering (BIO E), Chemical Engineering (CH E), and Computer
Science (CMPSC) who are on the recommended track and are therefore ready to take the appropriate courses
in the major during the spring semester of their second year are expected to move to University Park for
their pool semester, the spring semester of their second year. Students
who have not completed the prerequisites for the courses recommended for the spring semester of the
second year at University Park will not be approved for early change of campus.
If ENGR students cannot make reasonable progress toward their intended major at their
current campus, they may ask for a change of campus to University Park after no less than two full semesters,
but almost always no less than three full semesters. In such cases of academic need, the requests will
be evaluated individually. The student's transcript, current courses, intended major, courses offered
at their campus, and academic performance will be taken into account when considering approval for an
early change of campus to University Park. Inappropriate scheduling will not be considered as justification
for academic need. Personal issues will also not be considered as justification. For changes to campus
other than University Park, please contact the registrar at that campus.
If a student has a legitimate academic need for an early change of campus to University
Park, he or she should discuss the situation with his or her adviser. Upon the concurrence of the College
of Engineering Campus Contact and Referral Representative, the request
must be officially made to the Office of Student Services/Engineering Advising Center by the registrar at
the student's campus. Students wishing to move from University Park to other campuses need to see their
adviser and then make their request in writing to the Office of Student Services. A form to make such a request is available. An e-mail
request on the student's behalf will be sent to the registrar at the requested campus.
Students who wish to take a course or courses at a Penn State campus other than their
own during the summer only do not have to ask for a change of campus. They can just register for the
course(s) at the desired campus.
Go to Change to University Park for information about
the process, academic issues, and links to information and resources that are important to students
moving to University Park.

CHANGE FROM UNIVERSITY PARK TO A COMMONWEALTH CAMPUS
A student at University Park may request to move to a commonwealth campus for a variety of
reasons that must first be discussed with and supported by his or her adviser. To make the request, please
complete the appropriate request form and submit it to the Engineering
Advising Center in 208 Hammond, University Park. Your request will then be forwarded for approval to the
desired campus and you will be notified whether it was approved.
