When the demand by qualified students for a major that is under enrollment control exceeds the
available space, students are offered their second or third choice major. These are the students whose cumulative
GPA ranked them below the enrollment limit for the major.
Qualified students who are offered admission to a College of Engineering
major that is not their first choice must notify the Office of
Student Services whether they accept the offer. Failure to respond
to an offer of admission to a second or third choice major in
the college may result in loss of admission to any major in the
College of Engineering. If the second choice is a major outside
the College of Engineering, students must contact that college
and request a change of major. The College of Engineering cannot
respond to any choice of major outside the College of Engineering.

There is a remote chance that space may become available in a major that filled because students
who were offered conditional acceptance into the major failed to complete the entrance-to-major requirements by
the end of the pool semester. If that ever happens, the Office of Student Services
will notify the students who were denied that major because their cumulative GPA ranked them below the enrollment
limit for the major. Students will be notified in order of their ranking for the major when the entrance-to-major
process was being carried out. In other words, their cumulative GPA at the beginning of the pool semester will
be used. The student's GPA at the end of the pool semester would be used only in cases where additional
discrimination is needed.
