Withdrawal

A student may withdraw from a semester at any time between the first day and last day of classes, inclusive. Students wishing to withdraw must complete the withdrawal process on eLion or complete a withdrawal form and submit it to the appropriate administrator at their location or to the Assistant Dean at University Park. The last day of class attendance must be indicated.

Students who wish to withdraw for any reason, for example, personal, financial, academic, health, military, etc. should consult with an adviser to discuss the implications of such an action on their academic program. College of Engineering students at University Park should come to the Office of Student Services to obtain the signature of the Assistant Dean on the withdrawal form.

The deadline for withdrawal from a semester is 5:00 PM on the last day of classes in any semester or session. With the exception of courses whose completion date is prior to the date of withdrawal, no grades will be assigned for the courses taken during the semester; "W" will appear for all the courses taken. If the student was registered for a course that ended before the date he or she withdrew, a grade will appear for the course. CHEM 014 is an example of a course that ends before the end of the fall or spring semester.

If a student had already pre-registered for courses in the following semester, the registration in those courses will be canceled when he or she withdraws. To return, a student who has withdrawn, must re-enroll. Upon re-enrollment, the student may register for courses. Courses for which the student was pre-registered prior to withdrawal will not be automatically reinstated on the student's schedule.
