WHAT IS PSES? The Penn State Engineering Society (PSES) is the
only all-alumni advisory body in the College of Engineering. The Society works closely with College
deans, faculty, and students to promote and improve the engineering program at Penn State.
HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER OF PSES? If you are a member of the
Penn State Alumni Association, you are a member of PSES. There are no additional dues or fees. However,
becoming an active member of PSES means your participation in one or more of the Society's programs
and activities.
TELL ME MORE ABOUT PSES ACTIVITIES: You can take as active a role in PSES as
your time permits in one or more of the following activities:
- Student Career/Mentoring: Participate in Resumania, the fall resume
review day held in conjunction with the Career Fair.
- Co-op and Internship Assistance: Help select the best co-op and
internship students of the year.
- Special Events/Membership: Organize or participate in the annual
PSES golf tournament that benefits the PSES Endowed Student Scholarship.
- Membership/Marketing: Help recruit new active members.
- PSES Faculty/Staff Awards: Participate in the selection and awards
process which recognizes outstanding teachers, advisers, researchers, and support staff in the
College of Engineering.
- Department APG (Affiliate Program Group): Join an APG and interact
directly with your own Department to help with graduate student recruitment, co-op placement, student
scholarships, and fellowships.
HOW IS PSES ORGANIZED? PSES is governed by a Board of Directors that includes
officers and the chairs of the program committees. The PSES Board and Committee members meet three times a year
at University Park. Although members are encouraged to return to campus for these meetings, some committee
activity is done by members off-campus.
HOW DO I GET INVOLVED? To become an active member of PSES, contact the
Director of Alumni Relations, at pjl4@psu.edu or 814-865-9031.
