Youth Programs
College of Engineering Youth Programs
Various organizations within the College of Engineering sponsor programs to
introduce young people to the Engineering profession and Engineering
topics. Based on experiences in these programs, attendees can make informed
decisions about pursuing a career in Engineering.

Spend an Engineering Day
- This event is intended to introduce prospective high school seniors to
the various majors available in the College of Engineering.
College of Engineering Open
House - For the most comprehensive look at the programs available in
the Colleges of Engineering and Earth and Mineral Sciences, please join us
at the next Engineering Open House at University Park .
Penn State offers degrees in 18 engineering majors at University Park, as
well as associate and baccalaureate degrees in engineering technology at
the Commonwealth Campuses and a variety of specialized and
cross-disciplinary minors. The day’s events are designed so that you can
learn about these programs and visit with faculty and students in any
departments you wish, whenever you wish, between the hours of 8:30 a.m.
and 1:30 p.m. In addition, there are tour buses and a few events which
will run on a fixed schedule.
Programs for girls and young women
These
programs are planned and conducted by the College's Women in Engineering
program.

The
College of Earth and Mineral Sciences offers the
Penn State
Weather Camp.
The
Eberly College of Science offers the
Action Potential Science
Experience in a variety of formats and subjects, including
Chemistry, Biology, and Forensics.
In the Action
Potential programs, university faculty, researchers, graduate students and
undergraduates teach hands-on, science-based laboratories and activities.
The program strives to interest, challenge and excite K-12 students in
several different areas of basic science.

College of Health and Human Development offers numerous sports camps and

The
Pennsylvania Space Grant Consortium, headquartered at University Park,
sponsors numerous projects, programs and activities for K-12 educators and
students. Some of the opportunities occur at The Pennsylvania State
University, some occur at an affiliate's location, and some occur at other
remote places, such as a school or a NASA Center.

one-stop, youth-oriented web site. At this site, youth and their parents
can browse featured programs, search interest areas, or even look up
activities scheduled for specific dates. In addition, the site allows
visitors to sign up for a free membership with benefits including updates on
programs of interest and access to a chatroom message board. The site has
easy links to activities of particular interest to youth including 4-H,
Governor’s School, Penn State for Youth Programs, Sport Camps and Shaver’s
Creek Environmental Center. Penn State offers a wide array of youth programs
for ages ranging from 6 to 18.
