Undergraduate Research Requests

One of the great advantages Penn State offers to undergraduate students is the opportunity to work with faculty who are on the cutting edge of research and creative endeavors. Faculty have the chance to request funding for an undergraduate student who is interested in a research project. The purpose of this grant is to promote faculty/undergraduate collaboration as students engage in original research, scholarship, and creative work during the direct supervision of a faculty member. The request should address one or more of the following:

  • provide experience in all facets of the research, scholarship, or creative process;
  • include laboratory and field research, scholarly inquiry, and creative work;
  • students must have a faculty supervisor who is available to consult with the student and evaluate how the project was conducted.

Grant requests cannot exceed $1,000 and cost sharing with your department is advised. There is no timeline for when applications are due. They will be reviewed upon receipt and will be considered as long as funds are available.
