Ken Jenkins updated SPSEE on the state of the EE Department
 

• Promotions
• Mario Sznaier - full professor
• David J. Miller - associate professor w/tenure
• John Doherty - tenure (already an associate professor)
• New hires
• Aylin Yener - assistant professor, communications
• Craig Grimes - associate professor w/tenure, EE/MRI joint appointment
• Sal Riggio - associate professor (fixed term)
• Kirby Chair
• PSU's own Tom Jackson was named the Kirby Chair Professor
• Enrollment
• BS numbers are stable (approx 675)
• MS numbers have risen recently (up to about 140)
• PhD numbers are stable (approx 110)
• Research Expendatures
• steadily increasing
• PSU is still on the low end compared to comparable sized schools
• New Activities
• EPICS (Engineering Projects in Community Service)
• REU (Research for Engineering Undergrads) -- proposal has been submitted
• core course coordinators have been assigned for each of the core EE courses

• 103 student names
• 26% were sure they were coming to PSU
• 37% said they may come to PSU but haven't decided yet
• 17% said they were not coming to PSU
• Number who actually enrolled won't be known until Fall
