1. Agenda for Fall 1998 General Membership Meeting
The Fall 1998 General Membership Meeting will be held on
(Action Item: Tom Walsh will send an email to all EE Graduating Seniors, and all EE Graduating Graduate students to invite them to attend our SPSEE General Membership Meeting. Dave Salvia will assist in creating the distribution list to do this.)
(Action Item: Tom Walsh will also make sure that there are SPSEE 'Application for Membership' forms at the meeting for these graduating students to fill out on the spot.)
SPSEE Fall 1998 General Membership Meeting Agenda:
Opening Remarks - Mark Wharton
Mark will talk about the PSES event coming up on October 25, and other current SPSEE topics.
SPSEE Graduate Fellowship Fund Report - Mark Wharton
Mark will talk about the SPSEE Fellowship balance and evaluate how much money will be available to help students.
EE Department News - Jack Mitchell
Jack will give an informative State of the EE Department report.
Engineering Department Building Plans - Larry Burton
Larry will talk about the status of the recent building plans for the short term and long term, as well as the new Information Sciences and Technology developments.
Graduate and Undergraduate Recruiting - Harry Bell
Harry will talk about the goals for this year's SPSEE contribution to encouraging highly desirable high school students to attend Penn State's undergraduate program (Rob Pangborn - contact), as well as encouraging highly qualified college graduates to attend Penn State's graduate program (Kultegin Aydin - contact).
EE Open House - Tom Walsh
Tom will talk about this year's EE Open House where high school and college undergraduates come to campus with their families to talk with people to learn more about Penn State's Electrical Engineering program and to see the facilities. This is a most opportune time for SPSEE members to get involved by talking with students and their families. (Saturday, October 24, from about 9am to 3pm.) Tom will have a sign-up sheet at the meeting for SPSEE members for an hour or two at a time for a continuous presence. SPSEE members that can help out will be provided with a nametag and further information about the day's activities.
Logo Award Presentation - Mark Wharton
Mark will officially present Corey Poncavage $50.00 as the award for the best SPSEE Logo design. Corey will show us the refined version of his logo for the web page, and for use as a letterhead for SPSEE mailings. Congratulations Corey!
Concluding Remarks - Mark Wharton
Mark will wrap up the meeting and thank everyone for attending.
