2009 SWE Leadership Team Building Experience at Stone Valley.

Welcome to the Penn State Society of Women Engineers homepage!

Welcome to the Penn State Section of the Society of Women Engineers! Our section was founded in 1975 and today includes over 250 members. The mission of SWE is to “stimulate women to achieve as engineers and leaders, expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life, and demonstrate the value of diversity.” In short, Aspire, Advance, Achieve!

SWE offers many opportunities for students (both men and women) to get involved on campus, as well as at the Regional and National Levels. We operate in 5 sections- Service, Publicity, University Relations, Social, and Recruitment. From our Networking Receptions to our High School Stay Over Event, SWE offers many opportunities for members to grow professionally, academically, and socially. Some other events include planning the College of Engineering Semi-Formal, hosting the “Mr. Engineer” Competition, and participating in Homecoming Traditions. To learn more, please visit the links on the left. The Penn State Section annually attends both the Region G Conference (University of Kentucky in Spring 2010) as well as the National Conference (Long Beach, CA in Fall 2009).

Students: Whether you’re looking to transition from being a leader in High School, or you’ve been a leader on campus for a few years, we are always looking for new members to get as involved as they want to! SWE will give you a leadership position; all you have to do is ask. We firmly believe that holding responsibility in an organization is the best way to bring people together.

Corporate Friends: We are always looking for corporate support! If you are interested in learning more about how you can get involved, please contact VP of Corporate Relations, Ginger Gronski (glg5039@psu.edu) to request a copy of our corporate packet.

Please feel free to contact myself, as well as any of the officers, at any time this year (PennStateSWE@gmail.com). We look forward to hearing from you.

Have a SWEet year!
