I talked via e-mail with Lee Hanel (BAE/MAE '00) who works with Horton Lees Brogden Lighting Design in New York City. She is ok. Yesterday morning Lee had talked with Susan Ospina (BAE/MAE '00) who works at the South Street Seaport. Susan was on the roof of her building when the second plane hit the Tower. I also talked via e-mail with several alums from my class (1999) who are in the DC area, and while everyone is obviously shaken, they are unharmed. I would encourage anyone in the AE class of '99 who works in NYC or near the Pentagon to please contact Dr. Geschwindner or myself (firstname.lastname@example.org) and let us know how you are doing.
I would also like to mention that yesterday in the working drawings class, which I teach, I gave my class a homework assignment to get in touch with their loved ones and tell them how much they love them. A tragedy such as this makes you realize how precious each moment is and how grateful we are to those family and friends who we love so much. It might be a good idea for all of us to send an e-mail or a letter or make a phone call to all those we hold dear.
