Fundamental of Engineering Exam
AE students can take the FE exam during your 4th or 5th year but it is strongly recommended that you take it during your 4th year.
The FE exam is administered in the fall (apr. October) and spring (apr. April) each year (be aware that the spring exam is very close to the 5th year thesis presentation dates).
You can pick up an application form for the exam from Missy Stark in the Continuing Education Office (301A Engr. Unit C). The application form for the October exam must be submitted in early June and the April exam form must be submitted in early November. Please confirm the exact application due dates with Missy Stark since they vary each year.
Additional information regarding the exam can be found at the National Council of Examiners website or at the Pennsylvania Department of State.
Once you pass the FE exam and graduate, in order to receive your EIT certificate, you must request the Registrar's Office to send an original, final transcript to Engineering Examination Services. You can do this online through the Registrar's Office web site at www.psu.edu/registrar. Please note, there is a small fee for this transcript.
Send the transcript to this address:
