The Synthetic Environment Applications Laboratory (SEA Lab)
The Synthetic Environment Applications Laboratory (SEA Lab) is a multi-use test bed facility providing various users access to advanced visualization, simulation, and collaboration technologies. The lab's equipment includes a CAVE immersive projection display system that permits the generation of a 360 degree, 10' x 10' x 9' immersive environment were users can collaboratively interact with large 3D models and simulations in real-time. The SEA Lab is administered by the Applied Research Lab at Penn State. Members of the CIC Research team have used the facility to investigate the use of virtual reality for improving the design review and construction planning activities related to nuclear power plant design and construction.
