Description

Engineering analysis of building systems.

AE 481

Course Objectives

This course is designed to give fifth-year students practical experience and guidance under the thesis faculty in the design and evaluation of all structural, mechanical, electrical, lighting, construction and enclosure systems of the building in a comprehensive and interdisciplinary method. Experience in integration of systems, and technical report writing is provided. Professional visual and oral presentation skills are developed. Computer applications are encouraged. Presentation and report emphasizes the student's discipline. Final presentation to faculty jury. Selected students then present to a jury of visiting professionals.

  1. Implementation of proposal approved in AE 481W
  2. System and methods comparisons including costs and scheduling
  3. Creation of new work in student's option area
  4. Professional practice and current industry issues related to building type
  5. Presentation techniques/communication skills, final report
