Description

Evaluation of international project environments and participants, modeling and planning international projects.

Prerequisite(s)

There are no prerequisites for this course but a working knowledge of the construction industry will be needed to participate in the class discussions and to perform the course projects

Course Objectives

The objective of this course is to develop an overall framework for managing and planning multinational construction projects. To meet this objective students will:
1. Perform case study research on an international project,
2. Evaluate the risks and opportunities of international construction projects to determine whether projects should be pursued by a construction company,
3. Develop plans for managing and contracting international projects, and
4. Develop a position paper on a subject of interest to a business or research career.

International construction, project environments, international finance, public-private partnerships.

Class/Lab Schedule

3 classes/week; 75 minutes per class (note that some class periods will be available for group meetings)
