M. Eng. Degree
General Description
The Master of Engineering program is a 30-credit, practice-based degree designed for individuals who wish to further their knowledge in the building design and construction areas. The program focuses on advanced design and construction theory and its application to modern buildings. The M.Eng. is designed to permit full-time students to earn their degree in less than one year (2 years for Lighting). A student must select one of four concentration areas in which to study - construction, lighting/electrical, mechanical, or structural systems.
Admission
A 3.0 junior-senior grade point average and ABET accredited undergraduate degree are required for admission. All applicants for the Master of Engineering degree must provide a letter of intent indicating their career goals and proposed area of study along with three letters of recommendation. The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is not required.
Approved Sequence of Courses
A sequence of courses is provided in each of the four focus areas: Construction, Lighting, Mechanical, and Structural. Small modifications to these lists may be made based on course availability and a student's past coursework, experience and educational goals. If a course is not offered in an academic year, the department will recommend a suitable replacement course. All requests for course substitutions must be submitted to the Graduate Program Officer through a written petition.
