Second Years ENGAE and new third year AE’s – Fall 05

  • Arch130A – Conflicts with other classes must be avoided. You are expected to be in class during the assigned hours.

If you will be a second years ENGAE student in fall 05

  • The Architecture and AE courses are closed to students not yet in ENGAE. All of the current ENGR and DUS students are unable to schedule these courses until their status is changed in June. Students intending to enter AE should schedule all other courses during their assigned registration period and wait till June to add the other courses.
  • AE 221 and AE 222 are co-requisites. Take them in the same semester. You will be disenrolled if you only sign up for one of the two courses.
  • For A-La students, you should take AE222 and EMCH11 in the following combinations:
    • AE 222.01 – EMCH 11 sections 9,10,11,12 (not Section 13 at this time, when the AE222.02 students are scheduled, there may be openings at that time).
    • AE 222.02 – EMCH 11 section 13 only.
  • For Le-Z students, take EMCH 11 sections 9,10,11,12 (not section 13). You will be taking AE221/AE222 in the spring semester.
  • If any second year students have problems getting into a section of EMCH11 (especially section 13), please email mosesling@psu.edu and provide name, student ID number and the section that you are trying to schedule. Clearly identify your request in the subject line of the email.
(See advising website for writing emails to advisors.)

If you will be a third year AE student in fall 05

  • Take AE308, 309, 310, 311 and 372 in your third year. You will be selecting an option in the spring. These courses are designed to give you an understanding of each option.
  • AE308, AE309 and AE372 are only offered once a year. Make sure you schedule them in the right semester. (AE308 and AE309 in the fall. AE372 in the spring.)
  • Prerequisites; Please make sure you have the right prerequisites.
    • EMch13 for AE308
    • ME23 for AE310

If you will be a fourth year AE student in fall 05

  • Everyone is encouraged to take Arch443, Chicago Trip, in the fall otherwise the spring trip will be over subscribed.
  • Arch 441 studios are scheduled for either MWF or TR afternoon. We are expecting all students to be in class during the assigned hours. Therefore, special efforts have been made to minimize conflicts with other courses.
    1. Structural student should schedule Arch441 TR afternoons. Structural students taking AE401 concurrently with Arch441 will have a conflict the first hour. Sign up for Arch 441 and ask Sharron to override the conflict and sign you up for AE401.
    2. L/E students should enroll in the MWF section. (AE464 is scheduled for Tuesday afternoons)
    3. Mechanical and Construction option students may sign up for the MWF section. If that is filled, you may sign up for the TR section by following the same procedures outlined for structural students.
  • If you are going to Leeds, The International Studies office will schedule your courses. They will schedule you for Arch 441, Arch 211, AE402, AE430 and AE497 (GA). Lighting student will be taking AE461 by the web and is exempt from AE430. Sign up for Ae461 yourself. You will need to let Moses Ling know if you have taken Arch211 already and/or if you and L/E and want to not register for AE430.

If you are a Fifth Year Student in Fall 05

  • All fifth years needing Engl 202C should attempt to enroll in Sections 12,13 and 14. We are trying to populate these sections with all AE’s. Doing so may allow the instructors of both English 202C and AE481W (thesis) to coordinate the writing assignments. The Coordinator of Technical Writing and the AE faculty are interested in linking the two courses. This pedagogical model should provide a better learning experience for you. Therefore, as soon as you are able to register, sign up for Engl 202C before other students do. If you are unable to participate in this trial offering, registering for AE481W and Engl 202C separately is not a problem. AE464 and AE 473 may be rescheduled to accommodate Engl 202C. Sign up for English first. We are working on the AE courses.
  • All soon-to-be fifth years should review their degree audits to make sure all graduation requirements will be met. This is your responsibility. If you need a petition, you should file it as early as possible. Getting them out of the way before you leave for the summer is a good idea. Remember, the Dean will not review petitions during the semester that you plan to graduate.

If you need to consult with a faculty, please make an appointment with your advisor.
