ASHRAE Awards

Two papers written by architectural engineering faculty, students and alumni will receive 2007 Transaction Paper Awards.

Joseph Firrantello (BAE '07; M.S. '07); William Bahnfleth, professor ofWilliam Bahnfleth architectural engineering and director of the Indoor Environment Center; Amy Musser (BAE '94; ME M.S. '96; AE Ph.D. '98); Jae-Weon Jeong (Ph.D. '04), post-doctoral scholar; and James Freihaut, associate professor of architectural engineering, will be honored for their paper ''Use of Factorial Sensitivity Analysis in Multizone Airflow Model Tuning.''

Firrantello will also receive the group's 2007 Willis H. Carrier Award, which goes to the best published paper presented at a society meeting by a member who was 32 years of age or younger at the time of the paper's presentation.

Vladimir Vukovic, a doctoral candidate in architectural engineering, and Jelena Srebric, associate professor of architectural engineering, will be recognized for their paper ''ApplicationsJelena Srebric of Neural Networks Trained with Multi-Zone Models for Fast Detection of Contaminant Source Position in Buildings.''

Bahnfleth will also receive the ASHRAE Exceptional Service Award, which recognizes members ''who have served the society faithfully and with exemplary effort, far in excess of that required for the Distinguished Service Award.'' He received the ASHRAE Distinguished Service Award in 1998.
