What is the Career Fair?

The Department of Architectural Engineering, in conjunction with the Consortium for the Advancement of Building Sciences (CABS), is pleased to announce the 20th annual Penn State AE Career Fair. The event will be held on September 24, 2013 at The Bryce Jordan Center on the University Park campus. Students from all AE options will be present representing the construction, lighting/electrical, mechanical, and structural disciplines.

The AE Career Fair is designed to put companies in touch with our 5th year seniors, as well as students who are available for co-op, summer and advanced degree (graduate) industry and research positions. The AE Career Fair brings together companies interested in recruiting students specializing in all aspects of the design and construction of buildings. 126 companies attended the 2012 Career Fair, representing many of the largest and best known AE, consulting engineering, contractor, facilities, building product manufacturers and construction management firms in the building industry.

More than 430 students attended the 2012 AE Career Fair. In addition to the AE students who participated, Professor Robert Holland, who assisted in the planning and set up for the event, coordinated participation by the Penn State architecture program, in particular students from his professional practice class.  Students from a number of other Penn State programs were also in attendance including a contingent from civil engineering.

In addition, all firms will be recognized in a future issue of the AE Department newsletter distributed to thousands of building professionals around the country.

  • Student Hosts An AE student will serve as your personal host while you are on campus. Your student will provide you with information to help make this event more efficient and productive for your organization.

  • Career Fair Social Come to this informal gathering and talk to AE seniors and student hosts about their work and educational experiences.

  • Become An Educator The Career Fair is a great place for you to have an impact on the professional development of our students. Interact with students and give them the benefit of your experience and technical expertise.

  • Personal Interviews The Career Fair will be run on a fairly informal format with students stopping by in between classes or during free periods rather than by appointment. Private interview space will be available on a LIMITED basis for the day BEFORE the Career Fair (Sept. 23) and the day AFTER Sept. 25). Request this space on your registration form.

The Career Fair is an opportunity to make contacts, build recruiting relationships and gain exposure and recognition for your firm. Space is limited, so please return your reservation form early. Phone-in reservations will NOT be accepted.
