PEC Structural is seeking BAE and MAE structural candidates for full time employment.
The following duties are typical of the position, but are not all encompassing. Each person is expected to help out in whatever duties are required to deliver a quality product on schedule.
- Perform routine design and analysis of structural systems and components comprised mainly of concrete (ACI), steel (ASD/LRFD), masonry (ASCE 530) and timber (NDS) in accordance with applicable building codes. (i.e., IBC, ASCE, etc.)
- Utilize the computer to execute standard structural analysis and design algorithms in order to arrive at solutions to engineering problems. Software currently used by PEC includes RISA 3D, Windows XP Professional, FTP remote capabilities, Web Shares, PCA products (concrete), Strucalc (wood), TJI Design Software (wood), Retain Pro (retaining walls), and Ram Products (steel).
- Prepare drawings of designs from engineering sketches on the company’s currently used CAD applications, AutoCAD LT 2007 and Mech – Q.
- Perform forensic investigation, prepare and write technical reports and feasibility studies.
- Travel to the project job site to perform fieldwork, inspections or provide construction support; some overnight travel may be required.

TKG emphasizes structural engineering services in the commercial/architectural market. Our services can be categorized into six primary areas: 1. Design services including new buildings and additions and/or renovations to existing buildings (including change of use). 2. Forensic and failure investigations, including expert testimony. 3. Contractor support services including light gage framing, shoring and connection design. 4. Condition surveys to evaluate existing structures for due diligence or other purposes. 5. Building restoration services including façade, concrete and masonry restoration. 6. Special and miscellaneous structures such as railings, signs, catwalks, equipment supports, etc.
Some of the specific types of facilities we have designed include buildings for colleges and universities, primary and secondary educational facilities, hospitals and healthcare facilities, nursing or assisted living facilities, churches and religious structures, corporate office buildings, theaters, hotels, parking structures, light manufacturing facilities and residential structures.
TKG seeks a structural engineer for the Pittsburgh office due to increased workload. Requirements include at least four years experience designing commercial structures, experience working with architects and knowledge of PC based structural programs. Professional registration is desirable. We are looking to hire a progressive, highly-motivated engineer to be responsible for the entire process of HVAC system design – from start to finish. We have openings in the following offices: Altoona, Harrisburg and Pittsburgh, PA.
The ideal candidate must at a minimum have earned EI or EIT certification or preferably hold a current engineering license and have ability to become licensed in MD, PA, OH, VA, WV and other states as necessary. Experience with latest version of Autodesk Building Systems and/or Revit MEP a plus. LEEDAP accreditation is also a plus.
