AE CAREER FAIR 2001
AE Newsletter - Fall/Winter 2001

On November 6, 2001, 146 companies and approximately 600 students from all class years of AE, Tennessee State University, North Carolina A&T, and State College High School attended the 8th annual AE Career Fair in Rec Hall.

This year we had seven Corporate Partners and 47 Sponsors companies. As usual, a large number of AE alumni returned to Career Fair as recruiters. It’s always fun for the staff and faculty to see our former students, this time looking for resumes rather than handing them out!

Although the job-search aspect of the Career Fair can be stressful for the students, the company representatives do their best to create a comfortable atmosphere.

Monday night’s reception in Kunkle Lounge was also well attended. The reception is an excellent way for students and companies to talk in an informal setting.

This year, we had the use of new interview space: 310 Sackett Building and Hintz Alumni Center. We plan to make 310 Sackett into our permanent AE interview suite. The Hintz Alumni Center is conveniently located to the AE offices (right across the alley) and will, hopefully, be a regular site for Career Fair interviews.

Post-Career Fair reports declare this year’s event a success! Company representatives were pleased with attendance and with the students they met. Students were interviewed and many will be receiving offers of jobs or internships.

The faculty and staff would like to thank all of the students who helped make the Career Fair successful. AE students served as hosts, set up and cleaned up Rec Hall, delivered lunches, handed out the Sponsor gifts, stuffed the registration packets, manned the registration table, and did anything and everything we asked. They are, without a doubt, a great group of students.

Attendees (see below) were categorized as Corporate Partners - $1,000, Sponsors - $500, and General Registration - $250.  This generous sponsorship was critical in making this major annual event possible and clearly shows the level of commitment these firms have to supporting our program and our students. AE Career Fair revenues help defray the cost of organizing and holding this event, as well as supporting a variety of student educational activities and special  programs throughout the year.  The AE Department appreciates the support of all participating industry colleagues and alumni. Without all of you the annual AE Career Fair would not be possible! Thank you.
