2004 Career Fair
On November 9, 2004, the Architectural Engineering Department hosted the eleventh annual AE Career Fair. This year's Career Fair was a great success! 132 companies and over 600 students attended. In addition to Penn State AE undergraduate and graduate students, we were pleased to welcome students from the AE programs at North Carolina A&T State University and Tennessee State University, as well as students from the School of Architecture and from other Penn State engineering departments.
This year we had 17 Corporate Partners and 45 Sponsor companies. As usual, a large number of AE alumni returned to Career Fair as recruiters. Company representatives were pleased with attendance and with the students they met. Students were interviewed and quite a few will be receiving offers of jobs or internships.
Monday night’s Career Fair Social in Kunkle Lounge was also well attended. The Social is an excellent way for students and companies to talk in an informal setting.
With close to 100 AE student graduates every year, as well as countless AE undergraduate students and visiting students who have obtained internships, it is clear that the AE Career Fair is one of the most successful ways to connect companies with students. Companies know they can rely on the Fair to hire some of the best-prepared engineers in the country. Students from all years welcome the annual opportunity to meet and mingle with some of the top AE firms around.
Along with the AE Department, I would like to thank all of the students who helped make the Career Fair successful. AE students served as hosts, volunteered to set up and clean up Rec Hall, delivered lunches, handed out the Thank-You gifts, and did anything and everything we asked. They truly are a great group of students! And I would also like to extent a big thank you to the companies who continue to drive our students towards excellence. Thanks for coming this year, and we look forward to seeing you again in 2005!
