Letter from Dr. Richard Behr, Department Head
Dear Alumni and Friends,As you review this issue of the AE Newsletter, I hope you will agree we have some interesting and exciting initiatives underway in the AE Department. Most of these initiatives are making strong, positive impacts on our undergraduate and graduate educational programs, and on the architectural engineering discipline. We continue developing our ability as a department to integrate the teaching, research and outreach components of our academic mission.
In my last letter to you in the Spring/Summer 2005 issue of the AE Newsletter, I indicated we would be introducing the AE Practitioner Instructor (PI) Program to you in detail in this issue. However, to provide a more detailed introduction to the PI Program in conjunction with a more substantial progress report, I have decided to wait until the Spring/Summer 2006 AE Newsletter to present this information. This delay will give us a few more months to make additional progress that will enable us to present a more meaningful PI Program progress report. We have already made some solid initial progress, but much work remains ahead of us to complete the PI Program endowment campaign.
Although we are now in the middle of a long Northeast winter, many Pennsylvanians are basking in the warm afterglows of Orange Bowl and Super Bowl victories.
Best wishes to you and your families.
Yours truly,
Richard A. Behr, Ph.D., P.E.
Department Head
