Joseph Smith ’00, Project Engineer, E.E. Austin & Son, Erie, PA . . . Jared Loos ’94 was named a shareholder in Ewing Cole Cherry Brott and his article focusing on building a state-of-the-art shipbuilding facility in Philadelphia was featured in the December 2000 issue of Modern Steel Construction . . . Mark Scott ’78, working at MKK Engineering, current project is the Denver Art Museum . . . Kristie Bosco Mertz ’91, and her husband, Christopher, gave birth to a daughter named Katarina on February 20, 2001.  Kristie is also working on her PhD at Carnegie Mellon University . . . Alex P. Cheng,’90 a lighting specialist at Gannet Fleming, received a 2001 Technical Achievement Award from the Central Pennsylvania Engineers Week Council.  He is responsible for lighting projects involving highways, toll plazas, tunnels, bridges, parking lots, and other transportation-related facilities . . . Raymond Sowers, Jr. ’88, Vice President of Clark Concrete Contractors    . . .   Michael Prioletto ’96, project superintendent for Turner Construction Company, currently working on a $10 million football stadium and field house for the Pine-Richland School District in Gibsonia, PA . . . Kevin O’Hearn ’75, Facility Engineer for VA Medical Centre in Wilkes-Barre, PA, completing a three-year role as project coordinator for a $40 million ambulatory care addition . . .

 

Billy Hodges, ’95 shares a “first” Dodgers game with new daughter, Grace, born April 4, 2001 . . . William Campbell, ’63 BAE, ’74 MEng, retired in February 2001 after more than 26 years of teaching at Montgomery College in Rockville, MD . . . Mitchell Steinman ’77 BAE, ’01 PhD, received his PhD from Penn State in Thermal Comfort Design in May 2001 . . . John Myers ’87 BAE, and his wife Angie had their second child, a daughter named Makenna, on November 3, 2000.  John is also involved in the development of a new architectural engineering program at the University of Missouri-Rolla, where he is an assistant professor . . . Don Riegel ’68, is Director of Engineering at Vector Engineering Services in Denver, CO . . . Judy Liu ’95, is an assistant professor at Purdue University, where she is teaching steel design; she has recently become engaged . . . Brian Trimble ’86, is regional director for the International Masonry Institute covering PA, DC, MD, and VA.  He recently did a presentation in Paul Bowers’ AE 221 class, and his comment after not having visited PSU for several years – “wow has it changed!”. . . Kathleen Scholz ’95 and Kenneth Baur ’77 are part of a group at High Concrete Structures in Denver, PA, that have developed a new hauling technique that could eliminate wide-load trucks . . . Christine Sciulli, ’90, is self-employed and operates Christine Sciulli Light + Design, and is celebrating her 1-1/2 year anniversary with husband Carter Burwell.
 PSU HARD HATS

The AE Graduate Student Association has organized a hard hat sale fund-raiser.  The hard hats (shown left) are white and feature the AE logo in Penn State blue.  Each hard hat costs $15 and can be shipped for an extra 
$5.  Multiple hard hats can be shipped to one location for the same shipping charge.  For additional information about the fund-raiser, please contact Jing Song at (814) 863-2088.
Our adorable model is Matthew Potts, son of Drew Potts ’88 and wife Tanya.  Matthew celebrated his fourth birthday on April 21st.  Happy birthday Matt!
 

 CLASS OF 1992 REUNION
