Outstanding Engineering Alumnus
Mr. Joseph F. Martignetti, Jr. has been selected by the College of Engineering as the winner of the
prestigious Outstanding Engineering Alumni Award. He is a 1978 BAE graduate of the AE Department
and is currently the Chairman and CEO of Ventana Property Services, Inc., in Menlo Park, CA. On April
18, 2005, he was honored with the award at an afternoon reception. He also gave a presentation on his
current work to an audience of about thirty AE students and faculty.
Mr. Martignetti is the founding principal of Ventana Property Services in Menlo Park, CA. Since founding Ventana over ten years ago, Mr. Martignetti has built a portfolio of residential and commercial properties that has established Ventana Property Services as one of the largest third-party property management organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area.
An exceptional individual, Mr. Martignetti has used his architectural and engineering training as a base to become involved in all aspects of the building industry. He is a licensed architect; a licensed professional engineer; a licensed general contractor; and a licensed California real estate broker. This represents an unusually broad array of respected professional credentials.
Mr. Martignetti is actively involved in his company. His accomplishments include the development and construction of major commercial projects in the Bay area, including renovations of local office buildings, adding $3 to $5 million dollars in property value to each project. His company offers experience in residential and commercial property management, as well as an array of real estate advisory services, including: financial and market analysis; acquisition/feasibility analysis; construction management; lease administration/marketing services; development project management; architectural engineering; expert witness testimony; and operations and organizational studies.
In addition to his industry affiliations, Mr. Martignetti serves as a consulting professor in the graduate school at Stanford University, where he lectures and teaches real estate related courses.
His professional affiliations include active membership in the Urban Land Institute, the American Institute of Architects, and the National Society of Professional Engineers. In addition, Mr. Martignetti has maintained an active leadership role in numerous civic and nonprofit organizations.
The faculty and staff of the Department of Architectural Engineering join in congratulating Mr. Martignetti on the prestigious honor of being named a 2005 Outstanding Engineering Alumnus.
