Honoring the Pillars of AE
On June 6, 2005, Professor Emeritus C. Herbert Wheeler celebrated his 90th birthday. Faculty and staff in the AE department, along with alumni at the Senior Banquet, signed approximately 50 cards which were hand-delivered by Professor Moses Ling. Wheeler has had a long and distinguished career in the field of AE. He began his education at the University of Pennsylvania earning a B.S. in Architecture in 1937. In 1940, he earned his M.S., also in Architecture, from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He came to Penn State in 1964 to accept the position of Associate Professor. He was made Professor in 1970. After 16 years of service, Wheeler retired with the status of Professor Emeritus of AE. He made an impact on the Department by his commitment in developing the Senior Thesis program and as Director of the Continuing Education Professional Practice Program. Wheeler remains in touch with his students and colleagues via The Wheeler Newsletter distributed once a year.
Happy Birthday Professor Wheeler!
