Paul Bade ’80 is director of engineering at MCM Engineering in Burlingame, CA. I listed California on my resume, as one state where I didn’t want a job. Ironically, I’ve been in the San Francisco area for 16 years now doing interesting work in the aviation industry, especially trips to the Boeing plants in Seattle. Every Boeing commercial plane built is powered by our equipment at some point during fabrication…Ari Kamo ’01 is working for Lehr Construction Corp. in New York…Neil Unger ’98 earned his MBA from Cleveland State University in December 2002…Patricia (Rydzewski) Leshinskie ’98 decided not to hyphenate when she wed Matt (BSME 97) in 1999. She has switched positions several times looking for her dream job and is currently employed at Merck & Co. as a facility project engineer. She took and passed the Mechanical P.E. exam – first time! – and is looking at her next challenge, motherhood…Thomas Piombino ’95 is working for Clark, Richardson and Biskup (CRB) in Plymouth Meeting, PA, as a senior project manager on biotechnology projects. On December 22, 2002, my wife Gina and I had a son named Xavier Thomas…Brian Binkley ’02 bought his first home in the Twin Cities (closed on April 24, 2003) . . . Shannon (Schafer) ’01 and Steve Bentz ’01 bought their first home in Fairfax, VA (closed on March 27, 2003)…Crystal Enders, ’01 was engaged to Chris Blanton on February 22, 2003…Brad Wilson, ’01 was engaged to Kristen Massing on December 8, 2001 and they will be married on August 31, 2003 in Erie, PA…Mark Chachula ’01 and Robyn added a new puppy to their happy family in January 2003!…Andrew McNeil ’01 was engaged to Tiffany Abbott on Oct 13, 2002 and they will be married on July 12, 2003…Ari Tinkoff ’95 and his wife Deb(Schmelzle) ’96 had son Jacob Aaron Tinkoff on March 5. At 10 weeks old he has started sleeping through the night. . . YEA! Currently working on the 400,000 sf Cancer Prevention Building for MD Anderson Cancer Research Center in Houston, TX. Fellow team members include Wade Conlan ’95 and Andrew Van Horn ’01…Sean Kennedy P.E. ’92, associate, Haynes Whaley Associates, Inc., Reston, VA. My wife, Michelle and I have welcomed our second daughter to the world on Feb. 6. She and her sister, Haleigh (3-1/2 yrs old) are doing well…T.J. Sterba ’01 and Liliana Pereyra Sterba ’01 had their first daughter Friday May 9, 2003, Isabella Sterba. Mom and baby are doing fine…Captain Richard Burtt ’96 A Company, 244th Engineer Battalion, APO, AE. We depart sometime in the next 48 hours. I won't say exactly when or from where, or even to where in the interest of operational security, but we're finally going after months of training at Fort Carson. I want everyone to know that I'll be thinking of you while I'm there, and I look forward to one heck of a party when I return. Not so much to talk about me, but to catch up with everyone over the last year. Take care, and raise a beer for me from time to time…Seth Wolfe ’95 I left Ove Arup & Partners in 2000. I'm currently working for Weidlinger Associates in New York City and was promoted to associate in August 2002. My wife, Joy, and I recently bought a house in Short Hills, New Jersey…Stefanie J. H. (Hoffman) English, E.I.T. ’00 I've been working at Larson Design Group in Williamsport, PA since graduation. Bruce English and I (finally) got married in September ’02 and we're living in Howard, PA…Greg Cocco ’87 I received my M.S. in Software Engineering, and will be attending the University of Pittsburgh for a Ph.D. in Telecommunications. Currently working as a network engineer for a world-wide data/telecom outsourcing company called ACS (Affiliated Computer Services) www.acs-inc.com. Also a faculty member at Penn State New Kensington Campus, instructing Networking/Telecom in the Information Sciences and Technology…Nathan Tollinger ’89 is currently the structural department head for QproQ Engineering, Inc., a structural engineering consulting and building design firm located in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Nathan lives in Mountain Top, PA with his wife, Katie, six year old son, Keelan, and four-year-old daughter, Erin…Rebecca L. Kennedy ’01 I have a new job and promoted title as director of development & community relations, The Burden Center for the Aging, Inc., New York, NY. The Burden Center is a social service agency that serves the elderly on the upper east side of Manhattan…Ray Diebel ’97 I got married to Dawnmarie (Quinn) on January 25, 2003 in Philadelphia, PA. I am alive and well, still doing project management with North Star Advisors, a full-service project and program management firm in Ardmore -- just outside of Philadelphia. My primary focus is the rehabilitation and restoration of the nationally registered historic landmark building, Memorial Hall in Fairmount Park for use by the Please Touch Museum. The building, originally built in 1873, was constructed for use as the main art gallery during the |
constructed for use as the main art gallery during the first centennial exhibition which saw 20% of the country's population, as well as many travelers from abroad. There are only two of the original 125+ buildings still standing, and Memorial Hall is one of them. Another high-media profile project in Philly - I am excited to be a part of it all!…Chris Hewett ’01 Working with AISC, Chicago, IL. Chicago is wonderful. I'm enjoying every minute of it. Work is great. I finished my first big project, a book called Detailing for Steel Construction, and I'm saving up to buy a condo in October…Jeff Caldwell ’96, ’97g I am still working for James Posey Associates, Inc. in Baltimore, MD, the same firm that I started with after graduate school. I became a project manager with the company in 2000. The projects and clients here are terrific…Leslie (McIlvried) North ’86 Recent activities: judge for 20th Annual GE Edison Awards; recipient of 2003 IIDA Edwin Guth Award of Merit and Paul Waterbury Award of Merit; current projects include the renovation to O'Hare International Airport's Terminals 2 & 3 with Murphy/Jahn and the new Northwestern Memorial Prentice Women's Hospital, a 900,000 sq ft replacement facility in the heart of Chicago…Joe Miller ’93 and wife Suzanne are expecting their second baby boy who is due in August. Christopher Cerino, P.E., ’95 In December 2002, I was named an associate of DeSimone Consulting Engineers in New York…Doug Lang ’83 My wife Sally and I are celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary this month while attending numerous little league baseball and softball games with our children, Emma 13, Hannah 10, and John Thomas 6. After many busy years in Baltimore, we moved to the Pittsburgh area nearly four years ago. The move to Pittsburgh allowed me to take a position with Parsons Brinckerhoff, managing the structural engineering effort for building related projects for the office and to support Mid-Atlantic area PB projects involving building structures. I will be working as a project engineer with Dick Corporation and will start at the homeoffice in Pittsburgh, PA. Chad also reported on fellow classmate Ryan Misero ’01 who is currently in Iraq with the United States Army. It is estimated that he will be there for about a year and will be part of constructing the new government there. He is on a leave from Gilbane and they have been very helpful in the process. Clifford, P.E. ’77 In April 2003, I started as a general engineer in the U.S. Air Force, 911th Airlift Wing/CECE in Pittsburgh IAP ARS. I am currently interested into branching into fire protection engineering…Bob Fisher ’76 Will celebrate his 27th year of employment with FM Global in 2003. He is a group manager in the Cleveland, OH Operations Center. He manages 11 field consulting engineers ranging in experience from 9 months to 35 years. In addition to group manager duties, he is responsible for engineer staffing for the Cleveland operations, which covers Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, West Virginia, Western Pennsylvania and Western New York… |
