Paul W. Scanlon ’74, is looking forward to seeing friends at the 2004 A/E Thesis Awards program this year...recently returned from a project assignment in Kabul, Afghanistan - what an adventure! Baker has recently won major contracts supporting the U.S. Corps of Engineers for rebuilding throughout the Mid-east (including a $1.1 billion CM contract in Iraq, with A/E support services in-office, plus IDIQ contracts for rebuilding countries like Afghanistan)...looking for sharp A/E's who are interested in "seeing the world" and doing really rewarding work!...Lou Mittelman ’85, and "Sarah Sarah" have 5 children, Jon, 18, Jessica, 16, Anna, 11, Bethany, 9, and Amanda, 7. William A. (Alex) Formwalt ’82, I moved back to the states last year from an assignment at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, where I was fortunate to command the 18th CE Group—the largest civil engineering organization in US Air Force—with over 1,600 military and civilian members. My unit maintained facilities and infrastructure valued at $6.5 billion on 12,000 acres of real estate, provided fire rescue/bomb disposal/emergency response forces, managed a $3 billion design and construction effort, recovered from several typhoons and supported numerous deployments around the world...Kelly (Doyle) Krieg ’03, married John C. Krieg (EE ’03) on May 15, 2004. Rebecca Ho and Megan Hawk, both BAE/MAE ’03, were beautiful bridesmaids...Jared Loos ’94, made the cover of the Reading Eagle newspaper on March 24, 2004 in an article about his work as lead structural engineer on the new Philadelphia Phillies ballpark. Made of 11,800 pieces of steel, 450,000 hand-laid bricks, and 52,000 cubic yards of concrete, the stadium will house 43,500 seats and cost $485 million to complete...Andy Verrengia ’00, and his girlfriend Nikki were engaged this past month and plan to get married next summer. They also bought a house in Pittsburgh...Christine Subasic ’89, recently published a PE exam prep book called “Six-Minute Solutions for Civil PE Exam Structural Problems” after two years of working on it. She also passed the LEED professional accreditation exam in May. “We are settling into our ”new” place. Lost of projects to keep Shawn busy, and the boys love having an acre to play.”...R.M. (Bob) Tinstman ’50, for the second year was named as Individual Sponsor of the statewide “Texans Helping Texans.” The event, sponsored by the United Way of Texas, gives recognition to local United Way leaders who are innovative and uniquely effective in helping their citizens. He is also serving as President of the Austin, TX chapter of National Sojourners, composed of officer veterans of the Masonic Fraternity...Kyle Krall ’87 His article on the NY Times Building appeared in the June 2004 issue of Structural Engineer.
