STUDENT MARSHAL
Cherise Rollins (GPA 3.93) was named the class student marshal
to represent AE in the spring 2004 commencement ceremony. Professor
Moses Ling served as faculty marshal.
During her time at Penn State, Rollins was a Bunton Waller Scholar, a GE African-American Forum Scholar, and a Distinguished Scholar of the Minority Engineering Program. She has also been the recipient of such prestigious honors as the National Society of Black Engineers Fellows Scholarship, the Gladys Baird Scholarship, and the Ewing Cole Cherry Brott Award. Her architectural design talents earned her a featured exhibit on the World Trade Center Reconstruction Project in New York City in Jan. 2003.
She contributed positively to many Penn State organizations, such as the National Society of Black Engineers, the Illumination Engineering Society, and the Student Society of Architectural Engineers. Although she worked hard in her academic pursuits to be elected a member of Phi Alpha Epsilon, she also participated in ballroom dance classes, Impact Ministry, and the Martin Luther King Day of Service.
