AE Scholarship Named in Honor of Sharron Williams

At the 2004 AE Senior Awards and Scholarship Banquet, a new undergraduate scholarship was announced. The Sharron E. Williams – AE Class of 1999 Scholarship is named in honor of beloved AE staff assistant, Sharron Williams, and was presented by the AE Class of 1999.

This annual scholarship will be awarded to a second or third year student in the Architectural Engineering major. The recipient will display an interest in AE by being a member of the

Student Society of Architectural Engineers and/or one of the AE option-specific student groups and will have a demonstrated record of academic achievement.

The scholarship is a fitting tribute to Sharron, who goes beyond the call of duty in working with the students of the AE Department and is always willing to lend advice and assist whenever students have questions in general about the Department or particulars related to student services. She provides an extraordinary resource to the AE Department. Her congenial personality and eagerness to assist in any way she can provides all of our students and faculty with a pleasant AE experience.

During the scholarship presentation, Jonathan Dougherty, representing the AE Class of 1999, said, “With over 30 years of dedication to Penn State, it is not the amount of time Sharron has been with the Department and the University, but the quality of the service she has provided. She is a beloved member of the AE family and her continued dedication to the Department and its students is unparalleled.”

If you would like to help honor Sharron by donating to this scholarship, please contact Jonathan Dougherty (JUDougherty@psu.edu) for details.
