Solar Decathelon Update
In May, Penn State’s entry into the 2007 Solar Decathlon, MorningStar
Pennsylvania, was moved from the indoor CATO Park construction site to the site
of
the
new Dickinson School of Law Building at the PSU University Park campus. With
the help of the Alpha Fire Company, Valley Truck & Trailer, and the State
College police, the framed Living Space of the MorningStar Pennsylvania was
moved to the outdoor Gilbane Construction site to make room for the construction
of the Montana Technical Core at CATO Park. The high–tech mechanical core
includes heating, cooling, and water systems that focus on renewable technologies
in a single unit to integrate green design engineering into residences. The
MorningStar Montana is an affordable version of the MorningStar Pennsylvania
that will be built in Montana, on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation this summer.
The MorningStar Pennsylvania Living Space is now settled nicely on the Dickinson
School of Law construction site, with Beaver Stadium and Mount Nittany in the
background.
