Letter from Dr. Richard Behr, Department Head
Dear Alumni and Friends,
As reported earlier in this issue of the Architectural Engineering Newsletter, a national/international search is now underway for a new AE department head. I will remain department head during the search process, and I was named the first Charles and Elinor Matts Professor of Architectural Engineering on July 1, 2007. This professorship, endowed through the generosity and benevolence of Chuck Matts (AE’56) and his wife Elie, is a great honor and opportunity for me, for which I am most grateful.
I have found my ten year tenure as AE department head to be immensely rewarding, and I am proud of what we have accomplished together to advance this department over the past decade. The future of the Penn State Department of Architectural Engineering is a bright one. I look forward to working with Penn State faculty, staff, students, alumni and our numerous industry partners as we undertake this next transition for this fine department.
Thank you for all your support over the past ten years.
Best wishes to you and your families.
Yours truly,
Richard A. Behr, Ph.D., P.E.
Charles and Elinor Matts Professor of Architectural Engineering
