In steel building design, the provisions in most building codes come from AISC specifications. The basic requirements for the design and construction of structural steel buildings are found in the 1999 AISC LRFD Specification for Structural Steel Buildings. AISC also has several special-purpose specifications with requirements that will apply in addition to the foregoing basic requirements in specific applications as follows:
