Shopping - Stores in England close much earlier than in America, usually between 5 and 7pm. Leeds has some of the best shopping in England.

Grocery - In town the most convenient grocery store is Morrison's. It is located off of Woodhouse Lane. There are always taxis outside so it is easy to get back to your flat. You could also take the bus or walk. It is only about a 15 walk.

Pharmacy (Chemist) - The largest pharmacy chain in Leeds is Boots. You will not find many over the counter drugs at the pharmacy, but they do have cold medicine.

Clothing - Downtown there are plenty of clothing stores such as Gap, H&M, French Connection, and many more.

Kirkgate Market - The kirkgate is like a flea market. Vendors sell food, clothing, jewelry, books, and many other items. It is the cheapest place to shop and you can usually make a deal with the vendors.

Corn Exchange - Here you will find specialty clothing shops, cafes, and restaurants. This is a very interesting building and you should try to see it before you leave. Corn Exchange

Pubs - The Eldon, The Packhorse, Bricklayers, and The Library are all located close to campus. The Walkabout Pub will sometimes show American football games by SKY TV if you are feeling homesick for real football. Pubs are a great place to get some fish n' chips for lunch, or have a beer after class.

Clubs - Leeds is the club capital of Great Britain. Some of the best are Majestyk, Heaven & Hell, and Creation. Most of the clubs tend to play 80's music, but it is still a good experience.

Restaurants - Hard Rock Cafe, TGI Fridays, McDonalds, Subway, Blimpee, Starbucks, and Pizza Hut are a few of the places you can visit if you miss American food. They are not quite the same as home, but close enough.

Theaters - You can find plays, musicals, operas, and ballet in Leeds. Ticket prices are reasonable and there is always ice cream during intermission. Some of the theaters include: Leeds Grand Theatre, Leeds Civic Theatre, and Leeds City Varieties Music Hall.
