Student Biography

Jenna Marcolina grew up in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania with her parents and two younger sisters.  She attended Mount Saint Joseph Academy, a small private college preparatory school in Flourtown.  While she enjoyed her days at the Mount she knew she wanted a much different atmosphere in college, which led her to Penn State.  Being one of 42,000 students was a definite change from 114, but Jenna adjusted quickly and cannot picture herself anywhere else but in Happy Valley.

Today, Jenna is a 5th year “super-senior” pursuing an Integrated Bachelor/Master of Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in Construction Management at Penn State.  She has chosen this route because of the diverse job opportunities available.  She feels AE perfectly combines her admiration of architecture with her technical and leadership skills.  Playing a part in the construction industry is fulfilling to Jenna mainly because of the sense of pride and accomplishment felt when a project is finally completed.  To know she has left her mark on a building in some way is lasting and rewarding.

Jenna is a very determined young woman.  When she is passionate about something she commits fully and sees her endeavors through to the end.  For example, Jenna is passionate about food; she loves cooking it almost as much as she loves eating it.  She once spent an entire summer trying to perfect a difficult cheesecake recipe, but unfortunately, desserts are not her forte.  In her spare time, Jenna enjoys cooking dinner for family and friends.  Her meals are inspired by her Italian grandmother.  She fondly remembers Sunday night dinners at Nanny and Pop-Pop Bacino’s house that always featured exquisite cuisine.

Like most freshmen, Jenna was looking to get more involved on campus.  This aspiration was realized when a friend introduced her to Phi Sigma Pi, a co-ed National Honor Fraternity founded on the ideals of scholarship, leadership, and fellowship.  Through this organization, Jenna feels she has become so much more connected to the Penn State community as well as Phi Sigma Pi’s 80 plus members.  Since joining, Jenna has always been an active participant, serving as the social chair her junior year and Vice President her senior year.  She is currently the President in her 5th year.  It is an honor to be on the executive board and to know that the decisions she makes help to shape and improve the fraternity.

Jenna will graduate in May 2008 and is actively pursuing full-time employment.  You can view her resume by clicking on the link below.  Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about Jenna!
