Biography

Josh Behun grew up in North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh, and graduated with honors from Norwin High School in 2002. With developing interests in mathematics, art, architecture, and the building industry, Josh decided to try his hand at architectural engineering, and realized that Penn State was the perfect place to do it.

After two years of studying basic engineering at Penn State McKeesport (Now Penn State Greater Allegheny), Josh moved to State College to begin studying architecture and structural engineering at University Park. After several years of interest in the building construction industry, Josh realized the greater need for reduction in the environmental effects of our building's life cycle, and began studying sustainability and green engineering in addition to the prescribed curriculum. Josh currently works with the Engineers for a Sustainable World and has just recently finished up a project building a windmill in a developing town in rural Kenya.

During some summer time out of class, Josh has done two internships. The first of which was a structural engineering position with the H. F. Lenz company, a large architectural engineering firm based out of Johnstown, Pa. With H.F. Lenz Josh got his first taste of professional engineering, while honing his skills of drafting and steel design. The second internship was a project management position with Marc Anthony Construction, a small construction company based out of Pittsburgh, Pa, where Josh learned a great deal about managing a construction company on all levels of the business, from obtaining projects to hiring new carpenters for in-house cabinetry work.

In addition to engineering and architecture some of Josh's many other interest include snowboarding, golf, and music. Josh has been playing the bass guitar for upwards of ten years, and currently plays with a rock 'n' roll funk band based out of the Pittsburgh area.

Josh has enjoyed his time spent at Penn State University, but is looking forward to graduating and moving onward to his career in the engineering profession.
