  ABOUT KELLY DOOLEY

Kelly Dooley grew up in Montgomery County, Maryland, a suburb of Washington D.C.  Upon graduating high school, she began Penn State University as a general Division of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) major, unsure as to what profession she wanted to pursue.  About a year later, she decided on Architectural Engineering because of it merged two of her favorite subjects, math and art.  After her third year at Penn State, she accepted an internship position at Rathgeber/Goss Associates, a structural consulting firm in Rockville, MD, just miles from her hometown.  She aided in the design of a variety of structures and spent much of her summer analyzing an existing D.C. building for a three-story expansion.  Her experience there finalized her decision to pursue the structural option.  The following summer she returned to Rathgeber/Goss where she took on additional responsibilities including the design of a small apartment complex and attended multiple professional meetings to gain experience.

Academically, Kelly has always aimed high and put a great amount of effort and pride into all of her work.  Still, she attempts to maintain a balance of school and social life and enjoys all that Penn State and the State College area has to offer.  She has achieved the Dean’s List seven of her eight semesters thus far at Penn State and received several scholarships for her achievements.  In Spring of 2007, she was inducted into the Penn State Architectural Engineering Honor Society known as Phi Alpha Epsilon.

Kelly is currently in her ninth semester at Penn State and intends to graduate in May of 2008 with a Bachelor in Architectural Engineering.  Upon graduation, she anticipates returning to the D.C. Metropolitan area and pursuing a career in structural design.  She hopes to join a firm that can offer invaluable experience in a variety of areas so that everything she learns on the job can help her achieve professional licensing.
