Note: While great efforts have been taken to provide accurate and complete information on the pages of CPEP, please be aware that the information contained herewith is considered a work‐in‐progress for this thesis project. Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of Nicholas Kutchi. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed. Differing assumptions, code references, requirements, and methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis project; therefore, investigation results may vary from the original design.

AE 481W/482 Course Reflection

This year of thesis prooved to be extremely beneficial for entering the professional world. AE 481W seemed to be easier than AE 482, just for the fact that there was more of a structured layout. AE 481W was beneficial for determining the existing building conditions and start the conceptual design process for lighting. AE 482 taught the important skill of time management, since the schedule and process was determined by the student. The use of schedules and prioritized to-do lists were utilized to be able to maintain an appropriate work level. Even with the use of these schedules, I found myself working some late nights near the end of the project, due to my personal level of perfectionism and attention to detail. With the completion of this year long process I am thankful that I was able to stay on schedule and complete this project. Both AE 481W and AE 482 provided the opurtunity to focus on and complete an entire project with a defined scope, which most of us have not participated in outside of our internships. These classes not only taught us the design process but also the important skills of communication and being able to obtain the necessary information from an array of sources.

CPEP & Discussion Board Reflection

The CPEP website proved to be extremely beneficial. This is a great means of sharing our work with not only the faculty, but also the entire world and in particular future employers. The website is also a nice tool to share my work with my friends and family, who would not otherwise be able to follow my progress.

The Discussion Board was helpful, but I only found the announcements and Lighting/Electrical Boards helpful. This is to be expected since my focus was on Lighting/Electrical work. It is nice to be able to ask professionals questions about design and problems that are being encountered, since more often than not they have experienced something similar. The nicest property of the discussion boards was the fact that all the questions and answers were logged in a single location, so it made it easy to search.
