Thesis Abstract

Executive Summary:

The Rutgers University Law School Addition and Renovation project includes the renovation of the existing 98,000 GSF Law School with a 66,800 GSF addition including a bridge joining the two structures. The need for an open floor plan created complexities in the structural system bearing on poor soil conditions. As a result, geopiles were required in the design. In the electrical system, New Jersey buillding code requires this addition to be considered one building and as a result have only one main power and water supply to the entire structure. As a result, the electrical system is reworked through the entire building.
