Welcome to Philip Frederick's Student Bio

Philip Frederick

Philip Frederick graduated in 2003 from Greencastle Antrim High School in Greencastle, PA. Upon graduation, he enrolled at Penn State University - Mont Alto. After one year at the Penn State branch campus, he transferred up to University Park with the intent to major in architectural engineering. Philip is currently enrolled in the Penn State Integrated B.A.E./M.A.E. program and is planning to graduate in May 2008 with a focus in Structural Engineering.

During High School, Philip worked part time and summers with his father's Civil Engineering firm, Frederick Seibert and Associates in Hagerstown, MD. It was there he gained valuable experience working in an engineering environment and became familiar with using AutoCAD. To supplement his classroom knowledge, Philip has held two professional internships while in college. He worked for WJE (Wiss Janney Elstner) Cleveland Office in the summer of 2006, and the Simpson Gumpurtz and Heger (SGH) D.C. Office during the 2007 summer. His experiences have helped further his understanding in the fields of Building Technologies and Structural Forensics, as well as provide a gateway into Structural Design.

Philip has been an active member of SSAE (Student Society of Architectural Engineers) by helping organize and promote AE students in IM sports (intramurals). He is also a member of Phi Alpha Epsilon, the National A.E. Honor Society. Philip is currently planning to attend the Greenbuild Conference this fall in Chicago, IL.

Apart from school, his true passion is the outdoors. He loves spending time in the woods hunting, fishing and boating. Camping, hiking, and skiing with family and friends are among other outdoor activities he enjoys. Philip is also highly active in local sports programs including intramural sports at Penn State (Basketball, Football, and Soccer) and a local Church Basketball League in his hometown.
