Breadth Studies.pdf

This thesis will explore viable economic alternatives to the existing Floor Framing and Lateral Load Resisting System. A thorough analysis will be completed, using an ETABS computer model, to potentially eliminate the number of columns and/or framing members in the structure.

Also, two breadth studies will be completed relating to the structure.

First, a facade study will be completed focusing on the architectural panels and masonry lintels surrounding the windows in the patient rooms. This study will attempt to determine if there is an existing problem in the construction of the window unit and a repair design will be completed if required.

Second, a construction schedule and cost savings analysis will be completed to determine the practicality of the alternative structure. The construction breadth will also incluse a schedule and cost analysis of the facade study.
