Sami Emile Boulos

Sami Boulos chose to major in Architectural Engineering due to his love of architecture and also his passion for the sciences behind building construction.  After enjoying his 2 summer internships with William A. Berry & Son, Inc., a Construction Management firm located in Danvers MA, and an internship in the summer of 2007 with Penn State’s Office of Physical Plant’s (OPP) Construction Services/Project Management Division, Sami knew his choice of option: Construction Management.  Sami worked as a member of the Brigham & Women’s hospital team at Berry, with which he learned how to generate meeting minutes, review submittals, and most importantly how to collect and review certificates of insurance.  His work at OPP offered similar opportunities, but the most rewarding was his role as a project coordinator for the Roof Replacement project in the home OPP office.  He intends on beginning his career with Berry after graduating with an ABET professional Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree in May 2008.

Deciding to further expand his knowledge and application of academic principles for Construction Management, Sami joined the S:PACE organization in the Spring of 2006, and currently serves as their Communications Officer.  He has also begun his presidential duties of the DBIA (Design Build Institute of America) Penn State AE Student Chapter. His S:PACE responsibilities pertain to announcing events by posting flyers in classrooms, verbally announcing the events as they approach to his classmates, and also by sending out e-mails through the AE listserv. Sami also intends on becoming LEED Accredited and continues to show his interest and support in Green and Sustainable design efforts; he elected to take the Montana Strawbale housing course (AE 497G) in Spring 2008 and plans to help build one in Summer 2008.
