AE 481W/482 Course Reflection

The AE Senior Thesis program consumes a whole year of studies through two classes, AE 481W and AE 482. AE 481W, which is in the fall semester, is setup for the student to learn as much as possible about the building they have selected. In the following spring semester, the student takes the time to improve upon the building and provide alternatives to the original design. The program does an impressive job of exposing the students to many aspects of architectural engineering through these two courses.

I personally feel that the AE senior thesis program capped off the previous four years college rather effectively. It allowed me to collect all that I have learned through previous courses and utilize that prior knowledge to study my senior thesis building, Main & Gervais. Overall, the thesis program provided the depth and breadth of the construction industry. This was accomplished through the research of specific construction management issues as well as experienting with design issues and their technical implications.

CPEP & Dicussion Board Reflection

CPEP was an effective way to organize our efforts throughout the year. It also encourages students to keep up with the pace of technology. The discussion board is an effective means of communicating with industry members. Though, the CM industry members were not as responsive as the technical option industry members. Overall, both CPEP and the discussion board are effective communication mediums that should continue to be utilized and expanded in the years to come.
