Reflections
AE 481W/482 Course Reflection: This year long senior thesis project helped me make great strides in my development as a student in the Architectural Engineering program at Penn State. I felt like this course offered the most practical means for understanding how professional engineering design works. It tested my ability to analyze and understand a building's current systems and figure out better ways to make the building more efficient. In my particular case, I wish I chose a building on which I actually worked during my internships. The Bellevue Ambulatory Care Pavilion was designed before I interned at Cosentini Associates in New York City. This way, I would've came into my 5th year with a much clearer understanding of my building. Otherwise, I feel like I learned priceless information and techniques in the mechanical focus of Architectural Engineering. CPEP & Discussion Board Reflection:: For the amount of work that each student put into his or her senior thesis, a public CPEP webstie and Discussion Board was beneficial for our class. These services gave us the opportunity for us to publically display our progress and the work we've put into our projects. They also gave us the opportunity to contact the professional world of engineering for useful advice and suggestions to further enhance our senior theses.
