David Klug Mechanical 2008-09

David Klug is a fifth year Architectural Engineering student at Penn State University.  He is in the integrated Bachelor/Master of Architectural Engineering program and will graduate and the end of June 2009.  David is focusing on the mechanical option, although he has filled several of the lighting requirements as well.  David is currently a member of ASHRAE’s local chapter in central Pennsylvania.

During the past two summers David has lived in Singapore with his family.  During the summer of 2007 he held an internship with Singapore Straits Wine Company Pte Ltd.  His position was to help with the relocation of several of their distribution stores as well as to work towards increasing the advertisement of the current stores.  During the summer of 2008 David held an internship for the Duestche Bank Group.  His position was working with the Facility Managers and System Engineers throughout Asia.  This experience helped him to learn the finer points of coordinating all of the different aspects of building construction and management.

While in school David was also a member of the Penn State Wrestling team for three years.  During this time he volunteered part of his time to work as a coach for the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club as well as the ”Penn” Pal program.  As a member of this program he wrote monthly letters to various schools in Pennsylvania.  Although David is no longer wrestling he still enjoys staying active and being a part of the community.  David’s passion is in the sustainable design field and he hopes to be able to pursue this throughout his career as an engineer.

The Capstone Project Electronic Portfolio (CPEP) is a web‐based project and information center. It contains material produced for a year‐long Senior Thesis class. Its purpose, in addition to providing central storage of individual assignments, is to foster communication and collaboration between student, faculty consultant, course instructors, and industry consultants. This website is dedicated to the research and analysis conducted via guidelines provided by the Department of Architectural Engineering. For an explanation of this capstone design course and its requirements click here.

Note: While great efforts have been taken to provide accurate and complete information on the pages of CPEP, please be aware that the information contained herewith is considered a work‐in‐progress for this thesis project. Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of Dave Klug. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed. Differing assumptions, code references, requirements, and methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis project; therefore, investigation results may vary from the original design.
