Biography

David Geiger is currently a fifth year student in the Architectural Engineering Program at the Pennsylvania State University with main focus on structural systems.  His Bachelor of Architectural Engineering will be completed in the Spring of 2009.  He then expects to join the work force as a Structural Engineer In Training shortly thereafter.

David grew up in Sterling, Virginia, just northwest of Washington, D.C.  He was surrounded by the construction of new buildings everywhere and took an interest early on.  In high school he took a class in which he learned CAD programs and mechanical drafting which prepared him academically for college.  He was also involved with football and basketball and a member of many honor societies and clubs.

David has already gained a great deal of experience in the engineering field through early jobs and recent internships.  From 7th to 9th grade he worked for William H. Gordon Assoc., Inc., a civil engineering firm in Northern Virginia, as an administrative assistant for two years and a survey rodman for a summer.  His second summer of college he was a Planning Intern for Parsons Management Consultants in Dulles, Virginia.  His last two summers were spent with Cates Engineering, Ltd., in Gainesville, Virginia, as a Structural Design Intern.

Outside of academics, David joined the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and served as Vice President for one year.  He was also involved in the Engineering Mentorship Program, Dance Marathon, and IM Sports.

The Capstone Project Electronic Portfolio (CPEP) is a web-based project and information
center. It contains material produced for a year-long Senior Thesis class. It's purpose, in
addition to providing central storage of individual assignments, is to foster communication
and collaboration between student, faculty consultant, course instructions, and industry
consultants. This website is dedicated to the research and analysis conducted via guidelines
provided by the Department of Architectural Engineering. For an explanation of this capstone
design course and it's requirements click here.
