AE 481W/482 COURSE REFLECTION

THE 5TH YEAR THESIS IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE ENGINEERING EDUCATION IN THE PENN STATE AE DEPARTMENT. THE THESIS REQUIRES STUDENTS TO USE THEIR KNOWLEDGE FROM ALL PRIOR ENGINEERING CLASSES TO EFFECTIVELY STUDY A BUILDING AND TO MAKE CHANGES OF THEIR CHOICE SO THEY CAN CONTINUE TO LEARN BY EXPERIENCE. I FEEL MORE PREPARED TO ENTER THE ENGINEERING PROFESSION THAN I DID BEFORE THIS PROJECT. MY TECHNICAL AND ANALYTICAL SKILLS HAVE BEEN REFINED AS WELL AS MY COMMUNICATION SKILLS. THIS PROJECT IS ONE I FEEL EACH STUDENT GAINS SO MUCH EDUCATION THROUGH.

CPEP & DISCUSSION BOARD REFLECTION

THE DISCUSSION BOARD AND CPEP SITES ARE INVALUABLE RESOURCES TO THE STUDENTS. THE CPEP SITES ALLOW THE FOLLOWING YEARS TO LOOK AT PREVIOUS CLASS'S HARD WORK AND TO LEARN FROM IT AS WELL. ALSO, THEY GIVE EMPLOYERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO SEE WHAT WE WORKED ON IN OUR LAST YEAR AND WHAT WE LEARNED. THEY HELP IN BOTH SEMESTERS THROUGH TECHNICAL REPORTS AND WITH OUR FINAL REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS. THE DISCUSSION BOARD WAS A GREAT WAY TO FIND A PROFESSIONAL ANSWER TO A QUESTION ON SOMETHING THAT MAY BE NEWER INFORMATION OR USED ONLY IN CERTAIN AREAS OF THE COUNTRY. IT WAS WONDERFUL THAT ALL THE MENTORS ON THE BOARD ANSWERED SO QUICKLY AND THOROUGHLY.

Its purpose, in addition to providing central storage of individual assignments, is to foster communication and collaboration between student, faculty consultant, course instructors, and industry consultants. This website is dedicated to the research and analysis conducted via guidelines provided by the Department of Architectural Engineering.
