Technical Assignments

Technical Report I (pdf)

Technical Report 1 is the Structural System and Existing Conditions Report. Research was performed into the structural system of the building and the methods used to design the system. This report also employs the current standards to check the design.

Technical Report II (pdf)

Technical Report 2 is the Structural Study of Alternative Floor Systems Report.  This report was generated to investigate alternative floor systems for the House of Sweden.  Four alternative systems were considered and preliminary designs were conducted and compared to the original post-tensioned system.  The north-east corner of the north building was taken as a representative area for the preliminary designs.  The four alternative systems are:

  • Composite Steel Deck with Non-Composite Beams
  • Composite Steel Deck with Composite Beams
  • Pre-Cast Hollow Core Slab on Pre-Cast Beams
  • Two-Way Reinforced Concrete Slab

Technical Report III (pdf)

Technical Report 3 is the Lateral System Analysis and Confirmation Design Report.  This report was generated to confirm the design of the lateral system of the house of Sweden.  This report employs the current standards to conduct spot checks to test the strength and serviceability of the lateral system.

Note: While great efforts have been taken to provide accurate and complete information on the pages of CPEP, please be aware that the information contained herewith is considered a work‐in‐progress for this thesis project. Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of Kimberlee McKitish. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed. Differing assumptions, code references, requirements, and methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis project; therefore, investigation results may vary from the original design.
