Biographical Information

Michael Gardner is currently a 5th year student at The Pennsylvania State University enrolled in the Architectural Engineering Program.  He will achieve his Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree with a focus in lighting and electrical systems upon graduation in May 2009.  Michael is a 2-year member of the student chapter of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) at Penn State.

During the past summer, Mr. Gardner held an internship position at CLT Efficient Technologies Group, LLC located in Carnegie, PA.  There, he worked with engineers and project developers to learn the different engineering processes involved with projects of a growing energy service company.  He was afforded the opportunity to aid in producing lighting audits and performing energy analyses.  The experience he gained during this summer has opened his eyes to the energy issue that faces the world today and developed his conscience for energy conservation in buildings.  In the short term, Michael is eager to work for a lighting design firm or in the energy field.

Michael is also an avid traveler, having been to Europe three times, the most recent trip being a study abroad experience in Rome, Italy during the summer of 2007.  There he studied and admired the ancient and Renaissance architecture that Rome is famous for and thoroughly enjoyed the exceptionally different cultural experience.
